MODERN QUEENS

MODERN QUEENS
by Dreamy Poetess

Pia, Iris, Demi-Leigh, Catriona, Zozibini:
Five Queens of the modern age,
Crowned not only in beauty
But in purpose, compassion, and strength.

Pia, you wore your crown lightly, though its weight ran deep.
Behind the stage lights you spoke of anxiety and depression,
Yet you did not withdraw.
You turned your struggle into service,
Raising your voice for HIV awareness in the Asia-Pacific,
Showing through quiet honesty and courage
That seeking help is never weakness;
It is the beginning of healing.

Iris, you wore your crown with gentle purpose.
A student of healing, you turned knowledge into care,
Bringing hope to children and raising voices for the unseen.
Through charity, education, and quiet presence,
You showed that true strength is measured
Not in applause, but in the lives you touch.

Demi-Leigh, your crown was forged in fire.
After surviving a violent carjacking and defending yourself,
You transformed trauma into empowerment:
Founding the UNBREAKABLE campaign,
Teaching women self-defense, resilience, and readiness.
You proved that true strength is not only what protects you,
But what equips you to protect others.

Catriona, you walked the runway of your heart,
Your light aimed not at fame
But at the children of Tondo whose dreams are often unseen.
Since 2016 you have worked with Young Focus,
Helped build a preschool in Smokey Mountain through “Paraiso,”
And shared your song We’re In This Together
To lift young spirits into hope.
In your voice, they hear possibility:
A promise that tomorrow can be gentler than today.

Zozibini, you rose not merely as a beauty queen
But as a herald of truth.
With your natural hair and unwavering presence,
You challenged narrow standards,
Speaking boldly against gender-based violence
And standing with HeForShe for justice and compassion.
You urged young women to love themselves as they are,
Claiming the mirror for all who deserve to see
Their own beauty reflected back with dignity.

Five Queens, five journeys:
Not gilded fables, but real lives
Shaped by trials, service, and courage.
They show that the modern crown is earned:
In vulnerability and in voice,
In action and in heart.

May their reigns remind every young woman who looks to them
That she too can be queen;
Not by chance,
But by faith in herself,
And by lifting others along the way.
